Jim Hall
Creative Writing teacher
I’m a teacher of creative writing and journalism. Most of my work is done through university courses (University College Falmouth and the Open University) although I also work with groups and individuals who don't have the pressure of degree work hanging over them. These usually include people who are brand new to writing.
I can work with individual writers on specific projects and have significant editorial experience. I’m most at home with fiction (long and short forms) and creative nonfiction – usually of a biographical or autobiographical bent.
Have a look at my websites to get an idea of my general philosophy of writing and my approach to teaching it. You’ll also see the courses I plan to teach over the next year or so and the booking details. You’ll have to login as a guest to the Creative Nonfiction course. I hope you find it worth the trouble.
I offer a line editing service (typos, grammar, syntax, punctuation, subject-verb disagreement and phraseology) for which I charge £35 an hour (that’s about twelve pages of double spaced 11 point Arial). I charge the same for critique, character analysis or plot suggestions for a chapter (not more than 4000 words). Email me at creativewriting@tiscali.co.uk for a clearer idea of my rates and details of the process.
