Marion Gillet has seven years' experience as a project manager, agent and advisor to established and emerging designers. Trained as an industrial and product designer in Paris and at Central St Martins, she has helped many designers, illustrators and photographers with product development, licensing, distribution and strategy for their work.
As well as running her product development business, Marion teaches “How to Develop Your Products”, an evening and summer course at Central Saint Martins in London. She also runs workshops and 1-2-1 advice sessions for HiddenArt and Craft Central in London.
"One of my favourite things about teaching is when people start doing something differently - like approaching buyers or companies that could take their design on. It means that they enjoy being proactive. That means I've done my job well".
Teaching shouldn't end when the lesson finishes, she says. "When teaching skills you can't expect students to master one skill during the class. You've got to give them enough tools for them to carry on in their own time."
